Today Ivy girl is exactly 20 months old. Were we not just singing Happy Birthday to her? I don't know how that happened. Anyway, here are some current 20 month facts about the gal: She has come around to letting me put pig-tails in her hair when she sees fit. She loves to pick out her own outfits and would wear polka dots every single day of her life if her wardrobe allowed. She loves to copy my face expressions (it's a good reminder that I need to tone it down when I look over to see her with her mouth and eyes wide-open). She'll usually follow that surprised face by grabbing her cheeks, gasping, and occasionally squeeling, "OmyGAAAWSH!!" Lately she's been trying to weasel out of nap times, which means she'll usually climb into my arms around 5:00 PM and conk out for a few minutes. She discovered her love for bananas. She gets on all fours to step up the teeniest tiniest of curbs and cracks in the road, she's very cautious that girl. She likes to climb in our bed during the day and pretend to snore. She is obsessed with silly bands, there are literally hundreds of them scattered around our house. She is still super sweet and wild and funny. She loves to step in the street with the most mischievous smile cause she knows she's being naughty. She loves watching home videos of herself, she likes smelling flowers, and she has become quite the Mamas girl if I don't say so myself. (I don't know why though, Geoff is way funner.) We love our little girlfriend, best 20 months ever!

Its official, the Christmas decorations have been taken down (not put away, just taken down), so I guess that means its time to stop talking about the Holidays. To say a proper goodbye, here's an annual Christmas video of what our morning looked like (bed-head, a ton of Tangled paraphernalia, and a really rough-looking Mom. I'd blame it on the morning sickness and having the worst cold of my life, but last years video proves that neither of these things really contribute to how beat I look- video footage first thing in the morning is video footage first thing in the morning.)

Geoff and I opened all of each others gifts on Christmas Eve after Ivy fell asleep (hence the pre-existing mess) so we were really excited for Ivy to wake up the next day. She slept in past 9:00 and we couldn't take it anymore, we ended up having to wake her up. There is nothing I hate worse than having to wake up a sleeping babe but I figured Christmas morning was a good enough excuse (she did not, however). The rest of Christmas Day was spent playing with new toys, breakfast at my parents, and Christmas dinner at the Langs. I give this Christmas an A+.

Last night I had to say goodbye to my Sister, my best friend, my neighbor, and one of my favorite people in the entire world- Shanna. It was not pretty let me tell you; tears, hugs, an occasional shriek, somber stares from across passing car windows, and even more tears were all part of the dramatic farewell. Today Shanna and Brad moved to Monterey for school and if I'm being honest about everything, I'd prefer they hadn't. (Just kidding guys, you know I'm thrilled for you!) I think the only person who will take this harder than myself is Ivy, she loves them to pieces! I may curl up in a ball and cry on the sidewalk every time Ivy yells "BRAAAAD! SANNA!" when passing their old street on the way to the park.

Anyway, I hear from a pretty reliable source that Shanna was like my "little Mom" when I was a baby (someone had to be, I was the 6th kid under the age of 10!) so you could say that we're pretty close. I look up to Shanna so much and love her to death. My Mom tells me that I used to cry every morning when Shanna left for Kindergarten, judging by the above picture I guess not much has changed. ;)

I suppose it's time to take down the Christmas lights that Ivy put up so well last year.

We cut New Years Eve short after pizza with friends due to a migraine, some heartburn, and ah yes, a one year old. It was still a fun tonight regardless, and we were even able to see an early firework show before bedtime! I'll mark 2011 as an exceptional year in my book, here's to another healthy, happy, and exciting year ahead! I gotta good feeling about you 2012.

(Ivy and I watch the "baby show" on TV, aka the DVD from the ultrasound and she's equal parts excited and terrified by it, respectively.)

Although I was pretty convinced we were having a boy this time around, the ultrasound tech the other day seemed pretty convinced that baby was a girl! I know I'm still so early on in my pregnancy (and as much as I hate to admit that my guess was wrong), I am so excited for another healthy baby girl! After the ultrasound I had lunch with a couple of my Sisters and I realized how lucky Ivy is, Sisters are one of the best things a girl could have. Although Geoff is getting seriously outnumbered I think he would also agree that daughters are one of the best things a guy could have. Needless to say, we're all happy campers around here and can't wait for Summertime!

With 2011 coming to an end, I'm sad to say that my partnership as an ambassador for Huggies Every Little Bottom program is also coming to an end. I've learned so much through this experience and have grown more and more passionate about this cause throughout. When I was told what was in store for 2012 regarding diaper need, I was ecstatic! A newly formed national nonprofit organization called The National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) has been created in order to provide children in the US with the diapers they need.

NDBN will raise awareness of diaper need and build capacity of creating a national network of community partners. This is going to completely improve the process of diminishing diaper need by bringing

organizations together. Huggies will serve as the founding sponsor of the NDBN, and will continue to help fight diaper need by pledging to donate 20 million diapers a year for three years. (Let's follow Huggies' lead people!)

As the Founding Sponsor for the National Diaper Bank Network, Huggies Every Little Bottom organized “12 Days of Thanks,” a cross-country tour where the brand donated 12 million diapers in 12 cities over a 12-day period in November. (Talk about thanks-GIVING!). Click here to watch an interview with the founder of NDBN where she tells more about the organization and how small things can impact big things.

Ivy is this excited about becoming a big sister this summer. (She just doesn't know it yet, the excitement captured in these pictures are merely a slap-happy toddler at midnight who was refusing to go to bed). I'd post a picture of my 3 month belly but President V's 19 month belly is way easier on the eyes. If I wasn't so ecstatic about being pregnant I'd probably be a little nervous to be honest. Having an equal amount of babies:adults under one roof is probably going to be nuts, we seriously cannot wait. Wish us luck! ;)

Sometimes there's too much energy leftover at the end of the night and we all have to wind down by gettin' our groove on. Ivy loves when we put music on through the TV and she can see the album art (read: Justin Biebers face) on the big screen. I hope she never gets too old to be tucked into bed every night, that's my favorite part of the day.

Ever since V turned one I've been bad at journaling what she's all about, and at 18 months, she is a riot...so here goes. Ivy is currently all about "showwww" which means all she wants to do is watch Tangled and sing along quietly with Mandy Moore. It totally melts my heart, not only because it's super cute but because it makes her seem super old. Ivy has also turned even girlier somehow. She's not satisfied unless she's wearing fury boots, 12 bangles, a necklace, and sunglasses. Such a priss.

Ivy is a tickle monster, although she usually gets too antsy to tickle you and will scream with excitement beforehand and blow her cover. She loves her blankets and her teddy bear and her books and she is talking up a storm. She thinks saying, "please" and "thank you" gets her whatever she wants, and it usually does. She likes to hide in small spaces and close her eyes. She likes babies a lot, but not when I'm holding one. She likes kissing and hugging and high-fiving. She loves to share, but the minute a kid her own age gets near her things she'll lose it.

She likes dancing, eating mint m&ms, and going down the park slide. She is really short and has teeny feet, we all wonder how she balances on them. She goes through a tin of peppermint altoids every 2 weeks. She's stubborn as an ox and smirks whenever she's doing something she shouldn't. She loves her sleep and is known to ask to go down for "nigh-nighs", it's awesome. She loves to give zerbits and eat ice and "tweet" at birds. She insists on handing me her boogers throughout the day. She loves oatmeal and Joes BBQs mac n' cheese. She gets wild in the bath. She kneels down on her knees and says the sweetest prayers. She loves gum and will eat the wrapper as an appetizer when I'm not looking.

She is the sweetest and no matter how many smooches I give her throughout the day, it never seems to be enough. Love you Miss V.

Thanksgiving 2011

This years Thanksgiving was so fun, that's probably why only 5 random minutes of it got documented. In the morning we went to the Langs and had "Thanksgiving Breakfast" (donuts!) and played bocce afterwards, it was perfect. In the afternoon we went to the White house for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was exceptional as always and the kids later had an "olympics" in the backyard (piñata included). It was a beautiful day and it was so nice to spend outside with missed family playing pickle ball & corn-hole, watching YouTube videos, and hitting each other with pool noodles. I love Turkey day so much, I may even be a little bit more excited for Thanksgiving next year than I am for Christmas in 5 weeks. What!?

We got a season pass at Vertuccio Farms this year and no pun intended, have been milking that place dry. We go just about every day and make sure we get our pennies worth of two minute train rides. Ivy's favorite thing to do besides "choo-choo" on the train is yell at the ducks and watch Geoff do gorgeous toe-touches on that bouncer thing. Anyone know how one could get their hands on one of those things for their backyard? Just sayin'.

(Halloween wear: Day to night)

Ivy decided to be a bumble bee this year because it was the cheapest costume left in her size at Target. She's very frugal, that girl. I'm sure glad she went the bee route though because she was the cutest and she loved buzzing around. There's an 80% chance she'll be wearing it every day for the rest of her toddler life.

Anyway, this Halloween was a success and Ivy really started feelin' it! We taught her how to trick-or-treat at her Aunt Shannas house first (we figured we wouldn't be able to next year because they're moving to Monterey! CONGRATS KESLERS!!!). We then went back home and passed out candy to kids and even Ivys best friend/turtle/cousin Wes made an appearance. The award for oldest trick-or-treaters goes to Grammy & Papa White, who Ivy loved sharing her candy with (meaning she loved having them open all her wrappers for her without the usual "ok Ivy, last one.." beforehand). The rest of the night was spent sitting in our rocking chairs eating and passing out candy. I can without a doubt say that Ivy ate more candy last night than she has in her entire life. She was hilarious and straight trippin' by the end of the night, I think her love for Halloween runs deep now.

This weekend will be spent scrapping together V's costume, buying a little bit more candy than usual, eating chili and cornbread, carving pumpkins, and who knows, maybe we'll even pop in a scary movie. (Except not because scary movies are the worst, so we'll probably just stick to Freaky Friday or something. I can't imagine anything scarier than switching bodies with Jamie Lee Curtis anyway.) A few Halloweens ago we made the mistake of watching that Shia Labeouf movie where he spies on his serial-killer-neighbor and we haven't slept the same since. I don't know how you horror flick watchers do it man. Have a happy Halloweekend!

Thank you to whoever performed the rain dance for us after noticing me complain about how hot and dry it is here. It worked! We were on our way out the door last night when it started pouring out of nowhere. In true Zonie fashion we sprinted back inside, called off our plans (like we could safely drive in that kind of drizzle anyway!) put on all of our remotely warm clothing (read: shoes and a beanie), and headed back outside to play in what was left of the lightening and rain (small puddles). I can't wait till beanies and sweaters aren't over-kill, nothing gets me giddier than crisp AZ weather! (Obviously, I can't seem to shut up about it.)

Plant a cactus garden! (Is that an oxymoron, cactus garden?) I was feeling pretty down on AZ after talking so highly of her only a few weeks ago. She can be such a tease, that Arizona! I had a small meltdown (no pun intended), during a 100 degree-er the other day and decided to lift my spirits with some succulents. I love me a good succulent. (Main reason being that they take longer for me to kill.) It better be jacket weather by the time these die, Zona.

When I was in 2nd grade my best friend Claire and I planned to wear the exact same outfit on the exact same day. We had been conspiring for weeks about this, so when we finally picked out the perfect outfit, we could hardly wait. On the morning of, we met at our predetermined spot on the playground to awe over our identical green T-shirts and sunflower-print shorts. This is when we very quickly realized what a bad idea this arranged twin day of ours was. We both burst into tears almost instantly, and didn't want to be seen next to each other all morning long. Capital D-ivaaa! We were both pretty shaken up over it. Thankfully my Mom saved the day over my lunch break and picked me up, brought me home to change, and returned me back to class, sans sunflower shorts. (Where my classmates then proceeded to question why I had just gone home to change my shorts. One class clown excitedly asked, "Did you pee your paaants?!" I did not think that one through. Karma for being so dramatic, I guess.)

Long story short, I guess I grew out of the shame and embarrassment of matching with others (or I'm just making up for lost time) because I dressed V in the same pants and shoes as myself the other night. (I'm that Mom, laugh it up.) If she knew more words she probably would've given me a mouthful I'm sure, but that's why I gotta get these sort of things out of my system now! (Same rule applies to dressing her in all those costume-y sailor dresses or doing things like this.) I think she was seriously embarrassed, look at her face and how she's trying to wiggle out of my arms. Poor thing.

Until you learn how to talk and/or dress yourself Miss V, you're all mine. Muahaha! How do you embarrass your defenseless kid?

I consider myself a pretty extreme loyalist when it comes to some maybe not so important things. To other things, not so much. (IE: diets, learning the piano, the few jobs I had in high school, high school... you get the idea.) The little things I do choose to be loyal to though, boy do I! One of the things that I've been extremely faithful to all my life, is my chocolate chip cookie recipe. I have been using said recipe (it's safe to say everyday) since the day I could say "cookie" (which apparently was my first word...so yes I could probably bake cookies while in a coma). Anyway, when I saw these cookies on Pinterest paired with the words "New York Times' Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe", I was a teensy bit skeptical. Much to my dismay, I gave them a try anyway. I may have felt a twinge of guilt every time I had to double-check a measurement, but the guilt wore off once I tasted the dough. (And then a different type of guilt ensued..)

Anyway, this is basically just a really long-winded way of saying that I agree with NY Best Times' decision, these cookies are all types of unreal. I'm giving you permission to cheat on your favorite cookie recipe and give these a try, you won't regret it. (If you think I'm being overly dramatic about all of this, you don't love cookies as much as I do.) Also, don't think you're too good for bread or cake flour. Nobody is.

I don't know if I was inspired by this, or if I'm just in total auction mode this week, but I decided to raid my closet (and my Sisters, I swear!) and try to sell some leftovers on Ebay. It got addicting and I am nowhere close to done, but man it feels so good getting rid of stuff! Go check it out, there might be something with your name written all over it! (Expect if you're smaller than a size 4 and have tiny feet, but in that case, you're doing just fine...)

Nothing puts me in a good 'Fall mood' like coat-shopping does (but if I'm being realistic about Arizonas weather, lets' call it "very-thick-sweater-shopping"). Also, pumpkin cookies will put me in a good mood too, regardless of the season. I'll definitely be making and eating a ton of these this weekend to bring on the new season, yet another reason to buy one of those overcoats... ;)

I'm not the best cook.

I grew up as sous chef to my Mom, who we've already established is the best cook in the universe (no I'm not biased), so it would seem that I would just be a born natural in the kitchen, right? Not so. Genetically, the fact that I am not an exceptional cook makes no sense at all, it's so sad. After I graduated I thought that what I lacked in raw talent, I could make up for with my passion for ~~food~~ talent. This thought led me directly to culinary school, which is kind of hilarious. "I love food, I eat it everyday! I watch Food Network all the time, sometimes even while eating food, culinary school is definitely for me!" You can imagine what a breeze culinary school was for me (not). But hey, if you had fun you won, and getting college credit to eat flaky, warm, delicious croissants was really, really fun.

Anyway, I wanted to admit that before I shared this recipe so you know that this is no cooking blog, and that again, I'm not the best cook. If the stars align, I really do love it though. Stars align; meaning that the kitchen is immaculate, Ivy is happily entertaining herself, and I happen to have all the right ingredients on hand. Unfortunately, those things are all kind of a rarity, so I like to keep the difficulty level to a minimum around here.

That being said, this is my favorite (read: most simple) recipe to make. It is relatively healthy (I use that term loosely, watch out), vegetarian-friendly, cheap, and best of all- easy to make! I sometimes throw in peas or whatever veggie I'm making with it merely to save the extra step of adding them later. I'm a mixer.

we had to take a lovey-dovey picture together since a bike ride around the zoo was one of our first dates- the matching shirts were accidental, I swear.

Sometimes when you have a "waa-waaaa" weekend, you have to make sure you make up for it big time on the following Monday or else. (It's a rule, look it up.) That being said, our Monday turned into "Funday" yesterday, and we decided to wrap it up at the PHX zoo.

We were practically the only ones there so we really utilized all of our membership perks (let me be clear, there are no membership perks). We were feeling crazy and paid extra to touch the stingrays and ride the carousel, and in case you were wondering, we were too skittish to touch the stingrays and yes, Ivy hated the carousel just as much as I did. But still...perks!

Being some of the only humans there, we had no shame in being 'those people'. You know, the ones who take pictures of all the caged animals through the dirty glass windows? (You know the ones). It all happened so sudden, but soon enough we had taken enough animal pictures to make a twelve month calendar out of, it was weird. Anyways, we were the only ones in the orangoutang exhibit (if you don't speak zoo, this is unheard of!) and we even got to feed them! (Fiiine, we watched a zookeeper feed them, I don't know why I lied about that.) The zookeeper told us all about the orangoutang species, it was fascinating. (Plus she had a tattoo of a monkey on her forearm, so I know she was legit.) Oh, am I still talking about the zoo? Here are a gazillion pictures.

When I was first asked to be an ambassador for Huggies Every Little Bottom program, I was told that I'd be responsible for hosting my own diaper drive. At first I was a little overwhelmed just thinking about it, but when I told Geoff his immediate reply was, "That sounds fun, maybe you'll get to use a megaphone like you've always wanted!" Though he did have a point, we'll be doing things a little differently for this drive. (However looking back I'm wondering why a megaphone would be so necessary for any other type of drive...).

Monday, October 10th I'll be hosting an online diaper drive auction! That's right. After I organize all the awesome auction items and of course purchase a gavel (again not necessary, dang!), the bidding wars will begin right here on this blog (eat your heart out Sotheby's). All the items will be auctioned off separately in their own posts (so make sure you check them all out), and every single cent raised will go directly to covering a little bum in need. Trust me, you won't want to miss this.

Confession. We are all about Justin Bieber over here. We may or may not listen to "My World 2.0" more than we'd like to admit. And while I'm putting it all out there on the table, I might as well tell you that I once watched a back-to-back feature of "Never Say Never" from midnight to about 3:00 AM, by myself. Ivy was doomed to be a Belieber from the start (and she is). Whenever she starts getting restless in her carseat, we turn on "Baby" and just that one second introduction is enough to send her to the moon and back. She dances all wild-crazy and sings "Wooo-ooo-ooo-oo-oo-ooo-ooah" along with Justin, it's pretty funny. Anyways, I tried to capture it the other day, but it turned out she was getting some work done on the computer (destroying the mouse), so she was a little distracted. Though this video doesn't do her love for Justin justice, you can probably still get the idea. (You can probably get the idea how many times we've listened to that one second intro over and over too...)

My apologies for the shirtless baby by the way, she insists on not wearing clothes these days, and I've very quickly learned to just pick my battles. (Otherwise I lose, and losing to a one year old hurts.)

Geoff and I dream about taking Ivy to her first Beiber concert while wearing homemade #1 fan shirts and purple hoodies and everything, but then sadly remember that by the time Ivy will really be interested in going to concerts, Justin will be like, 30 and on Dancing With The Stars or something (best case scenario). Here's to crossing our fingers that someone just as cute and catchy as JB will be "it" when Ivy's a tween.

One of my favorite things to do when I was a kid was back-to-school shop. Picking out freshly sharpened pencils and new notebooks was exciting sure, but I was more into buying new clothes. All Summer long I would look forward to the night that I could stack up my outfits neatly by my bedside and decide exactly what I was going to wear for the first day (or week) of school. I still remember my excitement about wearing my green corduroy overalls on the first day of 2nd grade. (Hey I said that I liked to shop, not that I was stylish!) Unfortunately before I even made it to class in said overalls, I threw up from anxiety in the playground sand,

but that's another story for another time. (Are you sensing what type of kid I was?) Anyways, I'm a firm believer that even if you aren't enrolled in school you should still treat yourself to something new and exciting at the beginning of each school year. (Or the beginning of the neighbor kids' school year in my case.)

We got back today from our quick little weekender to Salt Lake. We had such a good time and got in a really bad mood when it came time to head to the airport for home. We spent most of our time playing outside, eating J-dawgs, and most importantly spending quality time with family and friends. We stayed with my sister Lynsi and her five kids and I can guarantee that Ivy hasn't played so hard in her entire life. She was on cloud nine being surrounded by all those cute little uniform-wearing cousins (and I was on cloud nine playing with Lynsis baby boy Drew, I'm in love!). Lynsi is the all-time best hostess you could ask for; we woke up to freshly baked muffins in the morning, were wildly entertained all day long, wrapped the nights up with Justin Beiber dance parties, and went to bed with bellies full of ice-cream, lemon bars, brownies, etc. We love the Wilsons!

One of our days there were spent in Provo, where we got to eat tons of great food and play with even greater friends. It was a dream! I regretfully only got a couple pictures playing in the Roberts yard but Jenna documented the night much better here. We love you Utah friends and family!

Last night we went to the Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes show with the Barneys. As if it wasn't "insennnn" enough, we snuck in a couple Salt River bars (because eating a couple at Liberty Market prior, just wasn't enough). What does that say about someone when security is checking your purse at the entrance and you're sweating bullets that they don't find your to-go box? Nevermind, I don't think I want to know. I normally keep our photography on our photography blog and our personal stuff on here, but I couldn't help but share this gorgeous wedding we shot last week on Labor Day. Our friends Chelsea and Dave got married at The Farm in South Mountain and afterward had their reception in their backyard. It was beautiful and I was loving all the sweet details throughout the night. Chelsea is so crafty and their house is seriously the cutest. To top it off, her and Dave are also the best parents ever, check out their blog to see what I mean.

Hey Arizonians! Did you know that the Diaper Bank of Arizona (located in Tucson) is the nation's 1st diaper bank? (AZ pride!) Make sure to check out their site for tons of awesome resources like where to donate, how to get involved, and even a calendar listing any upcoming events near you. They've even linked an Amazon Wish List on their site where you can directly donate a pack of diapers to those around you who need it. (You all know you want another excuse to peruse Amazon anyway...)

Something from their site that really hit home was the fact that just this year, those living below the poverty line in Pima County has grown by 27%. Unfortunately as long as poverty exists, there will always be a need for diapers. Below I have posted an excerpt from their site regarding the financial struggles that our fellow Arizonians (and possibly neighbors and friends) are experiencing each month.

"An analysis completed by the Children's Action Alliance of Arizona in 2009 concluded that at current costs, a family of four earning $33,920 annually (based on two parents earning $8.15 per hour, equating to 160% of the current poverty rate) would spend all but $54 of their monthly income on housing, utilities, child care, transportation, food, and taxes. That $54 each month pay for diapers, clothing, personal items, school supplies, haircuts, and other needs for four people. Diapers for one child cost nearly $100 per month, leaving working families struggling to provide the most basic necessities."

At the same time, daycare facilities require that parents provide sufficient disposable diapers to meet the needs of their children while in the facility. In order to do so, parents may have to make difficult choices between purchasing diapers, paying bills, or buying groceries."

The Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona receives requests for about 1.5 million diapers each year, and are only able to distribute to about half of those requests due to lack of donation. Together we can help bridge this gap in our own community, and the Diaper Bank of Arizona as well as Huggies Every Little Bottom program have made it easy as 1-2-3. Geoff somehow convinced me that buying a Stella was a sound investment and came home with this guy the other day. Normally I'd be bugged because I'm super paranoid about things with only two tires, but how could I say no to a sidecar? A sidecar!? We'll most likely be selling it in the next year because Geoff's really into "flipping" scooters these days (just call him the Jeff Lewis of mopeds). Today we went on an afternoon Thurs-date to Brunswick Alley & Arcade. We bowled and watched Ivy play Dance Dance Revolution and watched Geoff play that one game where you hit the tall thing with a hammer and it lights up if you're really strong, you know the one. At the end of our visit we cashed in our 27 tickets for a Jolly Rancher sucker and one of those suction froggy-poppers. It was such a fun time, and that means a lot coming from me because I used to hate bowling. I once cried as a kid because my family made me go bowling. The things first-world kids go through!

My dislike for bowling does not stem from the fact that I'm awful at it (well that might be a major contributing factor), it's because I never liked the idea of a sport that required me to have my backside face my bowling peers. Talk about vulnerablility! And also I'm pretty self-consious about my backside.

While I'm on the topic, you should hear my inner dialogue while I'm up to bowl. When I bowl poorly, I very quickly swivel around, red-faced, only to see encouraging smiles and I think, "Don't make eye contact! Also don't look too disappointed or you'll look like a poor sport!"

Then theres the one time in the game when I may actually bowl pretty well, and that's even worse, I tell you what. I slowly turn around, red-faced, to see people clapping and giving me the thumbs-up. That's when the anxiety sets in. I think, "Don't look too excited! Hold back the egyptian walk Stacie! Hold back the river-dance and the kick-ball-chaines! Don't even get yourself started with the back-handsprings! Most importantly, don't let them see you smile Stacie!" (How glad are you that you don't live in this over-thinking, self-consious and anxiety-ridden head? Add delusional to that list, because I don't know how to do back-handsprings.)

Anyways, today I was able to let the frowns and competitiveness and jazz-walks and hollering and most importantly the smiles all come out, and I broke 200 and got a Turkey. (Actually 98 and no turkey, but who's counting?) I blame it all on my little family of jowlers and nose-pickers, they make me really happy. Happy enough to bowl without breaking out in hives, even.

Assuming most of you want to help reduce the need for diapers and assuming most of you live in Arizona, I've broken it down for you on where to donate locally here in the Zona.

SOUTHERN ARIZONIANS
Bring your unopened or opened* packages of diapers to the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona. (4500 East Speedway Blvd. Suite 75, Tucson AZ 85712) Also all UPS stores in Tucson as well as these city council offices are available for drop-off donations.

*Unfortunately a lot of banks will not accept opened packages of diapers for health and safety reasons, however this office will. I know a lot of you Moms have opened boxes of diapers laying around that their child either never used or grew out of too quickly. If that is the case, this is the drop-off for you! I know getting out to Tucson may be unrealistic for some of you East Valley moms, so let me know if you do and I will take them there for you myself.

EAST VALLEY-ERS
The Arizona Self Storage on Lindsay and Germann (18412 South Lindsay Road, Gilbert AZ 85296) will accept unopened packages of diapers.

CENTRALS
Swing by the Early Head Start office on Central and Buckeye (1402 South Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85002) to make your donation.

We've lived in our house for almost two years. That means that for almost two years we put everything we didn't know what to do with into an extra bedroom, and shut the door. I think that classifies us as hoarders or something, but I don't know. Anyway, no need to submit us to A&E anymore. A few weekends ago we cleared the room, had a garage sale, and Geoff got working on the floors and furniture assembling. I'm really excited about this new livable, workable, and walkable space. It feels great to simplify and get rid of everything we don't need. I hope I can keep it that way, otherwise this could be a vicious cycle. Wish me luck, because I don't think I can handle another garage sale.

Anyways, I don't really like calling it my craft room because, well I don't really do crafts (actually I did glue that glitter onto those letters..so... there's that). It's more of a "catch-all" room for all my half-done projects, work, sewing machine, mail, clutter, and you know, stuff. (Oh crap maybe I really do have hoarding tendencies!)

Children's Museum of PHX.

Last weekend we went to the Children's Museum of Phoenix with some friends. (Free First Friday night)

It was our first time there and it was totally worth the hour of standing in line outside on the sweatiest night of the year. I'll credit that to the sweaty DJ who played hits like, "The Candy Man" and danced for us.

We loved it so much we went back 5 days later with 5 cousins from the White side and Grammy. Papa White even snuck away from work and met us for lunch and played a while. I made sure to bring my camera this time around because this is one of Ivy's last play-dates with the Wilson kids before they move on Saturday. I'm sure if Ivy knew that was the case she would have pouted the whole time. Kinley is Ives' favorite babysitter of all time, she is such a good cousin and friend and little mom to Ivy! She'll be missed by both of us, as will the rest of the Wilson fam.

I may have to get ourselves a membership, there's so much to do! (Any East Valley-ers have a membership? Do you go as often as you thought?)

Last month in Salt Lake at EVO Conference, Huggies Every Little Bottom program featured a wishing tree in their suite for babies in need. For every person who added a wish to the tree regarding their baby or babies in general, Huggies donated an entire pack of diapers. Reading some of the wishes from parents got me thinking what I would have wished for had I been there. Things like "I wish Ivy wasn't such a picky eater", or "I wish she was happier in the car" came to mind.

That's when I realized how lucky I actually am, and most likely a lot of you, too. While so many of us as mothers may be wishing our kids could sleep through the night or were potty-trained already, there are so many mothers out there (one in three, remember?) that are just wishing to get through the day with enough diapers for their child. Together we can all pitch in to help make these wishes true. Learn more about how you can help here.

Sadly my Sisters and Mom and I had one of our last complete GNO's for a while last night. Other than two birthdays to celebrate, we had a farewell for my oldest sister Lynsi who is moving out of state somewhere in a week. I'd tell you where they're moving to but they don't really know either. (No, they're not in the witness relocation program ;) It's exciting but sad and we will surely miss her and her awesome husband and their five hilarious kids. Anyways, we went to Barrio Cafe where we ate a bowl of our favorite guacamole in record time and even passed this video around the table. You can imagine how rowdy things got.

We moved the party to DQ afterward where we ate reeses blizzards with "extra chunks" courtesy of Lynsi. What would we do without you girl? We love you!

It's a good thing both of our families know how to vacation, otherwise we'd have no coat tails to ride on all summer. This past week we got to go to Torreon with Geoffreys family again. Cuzzy time, rollerblading, skateboarding, snacking, storm-watching, four-squaring, yahtzee-ing, corn-holing, go karting, bowling, running, mantle jumping, balcony jumping, and tetris playing were had. Can't wait till next year. Thanks Frank and Joni! :)

Effects of Diaper need // How can I help?

I know I've mentioned this before, but studies show that 1 in 3 American moms struggle with diaper need. One in THREE, you guys! As I looked more into all the research, I was shocked to see just how much diaper need really effected these 1 in 3 moms. It is more than just an inconvenience in their daily routine. Mothers are missing school or work, keeping their child home from day care or play groups, cancelling doctors appointments, and avoiding day-to-day errands because they do not have enough diapers for their child. They're cutting back on basic necessities like food, bills, clothing, and prescriptions in order to afford diapers. Can you imagine? As if it isn't tough enough sometimes to run simple errands with your toddler (and keep them happy), now add the stress and fear of running those errands with an uncomfortable baby and no extra diapers. TOUGH.

More importantly (and more devastating), the babies are the ones being effected - physically, emotionally, and socially. These babies are being kept in wet or soiled diapers for extended periods of time and in turn, are very likely to be irritated, cry more, and have diaper rash. I know I sound like a broken record, but there are a million and one ways we can help. Big or small, we can all chip in to help better these lives. Huggies has created the Every Little Bottom Program and we need to take advantage of it! Here are some super quick and simple ways to help.

One of Ivys new favorite things to play with at Grandma & Grandpa Langs house, aside from the obvious (Grandpa & Grandpa Lang), is their drum set. She played for the first time the other night and loved it. I tried to cut down all these clips from my phone and only choose the really really cute ones, and the video still ended up being 3 whole minutes long. Her drumming, dancing, and singing crack me up. So does the laugh-track (Geoff) in the background.

I know I've probably said this at every age and will continue to do so, but this time I'm for real, Ivy is at the funnest, sweetest age ever. Geoff and I have agreed that 13 months is where it's at. These past couple weeks our stomachs and cheeks have constantly been aching from laughing so hard. A few quick little things about Ivy at this age that I never want to forget.

-She's a ham. There's no other word for her. She can be throwing a fit in the grocery store but as soon as a stranger strolls by she strikes (and holds) this pose till they notice. When they notice, she cuts to act II where she then waves and dances. It's pretty hilarious for said passerby, but extra hilarious for me.

-She is innately sweet and loves to blow kisses and give hugs and smooches when she feels she has the time (she's a very busy girl). It melts our hearts every time.

-Like I said, she's very busy. If she's not yelling to get out of her highchair or car seat after one minute we think something may be wrong with her. She always wants to be moving and is constantly cruising around the house crossing things off her to do list. (unrolling toilet paper rolls, trying to figure out the baby locks, and hiding remotes and shoes- I told you the girl has a rigorous schedule.) I gotta say, It's nice to have someone else in the house with as much energy as Geoff.

-She loves to dance and will find any sound or noise an excuse to do so; commercials, Catchphrase timer, microwave, or when the alarm clock or phone rings. You name it she'll dance to it.

-She is starting to play better with her boy cuzzies and I love it. If they used to so much as look at her the wrong way 'the siren would ring'. These past couple weeks she's been trying to keep up with the wrestles and trampoline launches and hugs (tackles), go V!

I could go on and on, but basically she makes us really proud and really happy everyday. We love you Veevers- stay funny and sweet forever! :)

Cloth diapers // Diaper drives

When I first posted about the Huggies® Every Little Bottom Program, I got a few comments wondering why they don't just donate cloth diapers to solve the problem, that way Moms could just wash and reuse the same donated diaper. (To be honest, I wondered the very same thing at first.) Someone even posted a great link with ways to make cloth diapers out of old T-shirts if money was an issue. As resourceful as that is, money isn't the only issue with some of these families in need. Having a washer and dryer, or even a home for that matter play a huge role in the use of cloth diapers.

A couple other reasons why cloth diapers may not be the most realistic option for families in need:
-Many daycare facilities will not admit children without a day's supply of clean disposable diapers - cloth diapers are often not accepted.
-Many laundromat facilities will not allow mothers to wash diapers for sanitary reasons.

When it comes down to it, Huggies® Every Little Bottom Program is helping reduce diaper need, see below for all different types of ways you can help.

Like I said, California was a treat. Ivy didn't really care for the beach, but I'll blame that on the fact that her top teeth were coming in and she felt crummy. We'll get her next year.

The beach bored her so much in fact that she fell asleep on Shannas shoulder, which is so un-ivy of her.

We were pretty jealous of all that coodle-time Shanna was getting. That and the $6 ice-cream cone we got her were probably her happiest beach memories. (Can you believe that, a six dollar ice cream cone?)

I said I'd be better at actually printing out photos for our home albums, but that hasn't happened just yet. (I guess I can look on the bright side for now and think that that's one less thing I need to grab in case of fire...) I can say that we've been good at continuing to shoot and develop our film. It's become sort of addicting, opening that photo envelope and remembering all these little moments again make it exciting.

Happy Fathers Day to both of our #1 Dads! It's no coincidence that these were some of the only pictures we have of them on our computer. Geoffs Dad is the one on the left, doing a backflip (typical Frank). My Dad is the one on the right, shopping (typical Richard).

I already see so many great traits in Geoff that come from his Dad; like being a hard worker, being a donut connoisseur, always having a smile on his face, and being the life of the party. I think I got some traits from my Dad as well. For instance; I can't swallow a pill to save my life, I can eat my weight in black licorice, I type with three fingers, and I'm usually walking around the house expecting to punch a burglar at any given moment. So I'd say I inherited some of his more... quirky traits. I'm crossing my fingers I'll get lucky and grow into some of his other, more admirable, (and normal) traits one day too -there are many to choose from. (Like being super smart, ambitious, goofy, or really good at pickle ball.)

Oh, and obviously Geoff is #1, too.

Happy Birthday to my sweet Mom! I think some women get to a certain age where they don't like their age revealed, but I think if you look this great for your age, you (or your daughter in this case) should shout it from the rooftops. FIFTY-FIVE!!!

Go Mom, it's y'birthday.

Not only is she super cute and sweet and thoughtful, but:

-She makes everyone feel happy and good and loved and important.

-She is the best cook in the world. I'm not biased, seriously ask anyone.

-She's the busiest person I've ever met. Between grandma'ing 12 grandkids, always being there for her 6 kids and their spouses, being the Stake Relief Society President, working part-time, keeping up with her house, yard, & garden, and taking random things like voice lessons on the side, I seriously don't know how she has time for it all. Wait actually, I do. Continue reading.

-The woman doesn't sleep. Growing up whenever I had sleepovers my friends would always ask things like, "Why is your Mom making Zucchini bread/pot roast/strawberry jam at 3 AM, doesn't she sleep?" No, she doesn't.

-She's a really great Grandma. She'll either be doing science projects in the kitchen or making mud pies/snail-searching/jumping on the tramp/swimming outside with the grandkids. She's way fun.

-She's the most trusting person and sees the good in everyone. She actually may be too trusting. We sometimes get mad at her for leaving the doors unlocked when my Dad is out of town, or for giving maintenance workers their garage code, or giving rides to strange pedestrians. There's a line, Mom. ;)

- She is really tough. I grew up thinking Moms never got sick, however I had a rude awakening to find out that that wasn't true. The lady doesn't complain.

I could go on and on and on, but words and stories can't even come close to describe how amazing she is. We have a tradition where my Sisters and I all get together and make lunch at her house on her birthday. It's a good time.

We love you Mom, happy birthday! I'd say I wish I could be one-tenth as great as you one day, but that would be greedy (not to mention unrealistic). I'm lucky enough as it is to have you as my Mom.

Congrats to the beautiful couple Emma & Jordan! We went to their outdoor reception last night and got annoying in the photobooth. I love that Ivy's "bozo the clown hair" is coming in full force, it's something she got from me as a baby. Hey I'll take it!

Besides the prettiest flowers I have ever seen at a reception, there was an outdoor A/C machine that rocked V's world. I don't know what's funnier to me about this picture; her hair, her rollercoaster face, or her pixar legs. Gotta love her.

I know fathers day isn't for a couple weeks, but this guy deserves an honorable mention. I mean, check this guy out.

To top it off, he's a dreamer and I can appreciate that. For instance, the other day as I was trying to decide on what to get Geoff for fathers day, I asked him to give me a ballpark budget of what I could spend on him. Because if you're like me (which he is not apparently), nothing can ruin a holiday more than anxiously thinking while opening gifts, "How much did all this stuff cost!?" He then replied, "Just whatever you do, don't spend more than 5 thousand dollars on me, that'd be way too much."

HA!!

Talk about high expectations man. (In his..sorta..defense he later claimed that he shot high because he didn't want to blow any chances of getting a benjamin button motorcycle.) Looks like the shoes I was gonna buy aren't cuttin' it. (Rats! I just spilled the beans, you're getting shoes Geoff.) (Or are you...?)

Since I'm clearly not good with surprises and already blew it, any other good ideas for Fathers Day gifts? Please guys, I'm not made of money. Let's keep the suggestions under $5000. (read: $50)

Flying to rainy, cold, Salt Lake this morning with 4 sisters +6 babies. The flight alone will probably make for a good story. Wish us luck and have a good rest of the week!

Ivy helped me pack yesterday by eating all the gum in my purse and dumping everything in our house out of its box. Seriously? Who owns two Jenga sets?
